The Big Apple

Title – The Big Apple
Date – August 1986
Location - New York - USA

New York is a vibrant city, one that has seen its highs and very lows, but its people still plough on, striving for that perfect New York lifestyle. A city that really has something for everyone from Central Park to the shopping on 5th Avenue, from Broadway musicals to Yankee stadium and from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State building; there is no better city in the USA to come and see what the ‘American dream’ is all about.

Spending time in big cities like New York can tempt you away from the budgetary constraints you may have placed on yourself. If you are a shocker for shopping, then you could easily find yourself very poor, very quickly and with an excess baggage bill to boot.

Beyond The Blue run Gap Year and Independent Travel Safety & Awareness workshops to help individuals prepare for every aspect of their planned trip. We examine issues such as budgeting, personal safety, securing Cash, Cards and Documents, Insurance and Travel Health, to give you an overview of how to plan effectively and how to execute the plan safely.

The Golden Gate Bridge

Title – The Golden Gate Bridge
Date – August 1986
Location - San Francisco - USA

The Golden Gate Bridge is the gateway to San Francisco one of the worlds most interesting cities. It’s a city that seems to pit itself against the rest of the USA and sometimes seems to have a more European feel, then an American one.

With it artistic quarter and creative heart beat the city seems to come alive as soon as you cross this great bridge, the scene of many a movie stuntman’s greatest achievement.

No matter how friendly they may seem, big urban areas often have the some dangers associated with them. With budget accommodation often being in the less affluent areas of town, you should use added caution especially at night.

Beyond The Blue run workshops to help prepare people for all the environments they may encounter, urban and rural. Our Gap Year and Independent Travel Safety & Awareness workshop covers the assessment of risk and aspects of good communication, to enable you to recognise the signs of escalating conflict and aggression. Our personal safety techniques are specifically designed to be low-impact and not to require the use of force.
